Hey there! I’m Hieu.

I tell stories of animals and people around the world through photos. My work has been featured by National Geographic Your Shot, Apple, & Wild Planet Photo Magazine.

My favorite moments as a photographer are the unexpected ones. Stumbling upon a lion cub on my way to dinner. Seeing the dancing green ribbons of the Northern Lights after being stuck in a blizzard. Hearing the “ice sizzle” of melting icebergs. Swallowing sea water from being startled by a whale shark. These are the moments I live for.

I never thought I would be a wildlife & portrait photographer. Before Project Wonderlust, I was an Executive Assistant for investors at Sequoia Capital; and before that, I was in a galaxy far, far away for Lucasfilm’s marketing team. When I am not traveling, I like to photograph portraits in my studio and headshots for companies.
